Reflective Supervision
Making sense of complex work, with space to think clearly.
A protected, professionally held space to consider your practice, relationships, decisions and the emotional demands of your work.
When the work stays with you
Some pieces of work are difficult to put down.
You may be holding a complex situation, questioning a decision, navigating competing needs or noticing the impact that the work is having on your own thinking.
Reflective supervision gives you time to slow things down and look more closely at what is happening, what may be influencing the situation, how you are responding to it and what might be helpful next.
It is not appraisal or therapy. It is a collaborative, psychologically informed space for professional learning, development and thoughtful practice.
Who I work with
I offer supervision to:
Educational Psychologists, including those working independently or in private practice
Trainee Educational Psychologists seeking additional thinking space alongside their formal supervision
School and education staff delivering structured or accredited emotional wellbeing interventions
Professionals supporting children and young people where the work is complex or emotionally demanding
Supervision can be particularly valuable when you are holding complex work, developing a new area of practice, moving into independent work or have limited opportunities to step back and think with another professional.
What we might explore
There does not need to be a fixed agenda.
We might think together about a situation that feels complex or stuck; professional relationships, boundaries or ethical dilemmas; the emotional impact of particular work; an intervention that is not progressing as expected; confidence in your professional judgement; or a change you are considering in your practice.
We can also pay attention to what is already working and how you might understand, strengthen and build upon it.
You can begin with whatever feels difficult, uncertain or important.
How I work
My approach is calm, collaborative and psychologically informed.
More than 25 years of psychological practice shape the questions I ask and the perspectives I bring. I listen closely, offer thoughtful challenge where it is useful and help you look beyond the immediate problem to consider patterns, relationships and the wider context.
The purpose is not for me to tell you what to do. It is to help you understand the work more fully, strengthen your own professional judgement and leave with greater clarity about what you may want to do next.
Supervision can be arranged individually or in a small group, either regularly or as a one-off consultation. Sessions are available online.
Where supervision sits alongside workplace, placement or university arrangements, we will agree its purpose, boundaries and confidentiality clearly from the outset.
